Psalm 62:1-2

Truly my soul finds rest in God;
    my salvation comes from him.
Truly he is my rock and my salvation;
    he is my fortress, I will never be shaken.

Father, I rest in You because You are my firm foundation, my salvation, and my protection.

Psalm 23:1-3

The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing.
    He makes me lie down in green pastures,
he leads me beside quiet waters,

    for his name’s sake.

Father, I rest in the knowledge that You are the good shepherd who provides for, guides, and protects me 

Philippians 4:6-7

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Father, I pray that I give all of my concerns to you in prayer so I may rest in Your peace.

Psalm 116:7

Return to your rest, my soul, for the LORD has been good to you.

Father, I pray that I rest in Your goodness.

Hebrews 4:9-11

There remains, then, a Sabbath-rest for the people of God; for anyone who enters God’s rest also rests from their works, just as God did from his. Let us, therefore, make every effort to enter that rest, so that no one will perish by following their example of disobedience.

Father, I pray that I make every effort to enter Your promised rest by walking in obedience to Your word.

Matthew 11:29-30

Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me; for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”

Father, I pray that I will harness my heart and life to Jesus, for His yoke is easy, His burden is light, and in Him is rest for my soul.

Matthew 11:28

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”

Father, I lay all my burdens at your feet and receive Your rest.

Isaiah 58:9b-11

“If you do away with the yoke of oppression,

with the pointing finger and malicious talk,

and if you spend yourselves in behalf of the hungry

and satisfy the needs of the oppressed,

then your light will rise in the darkness,

and your night will become like the noonday.

The Lord will guide you always;
    he will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land
    and will strengthen your frame.
You will be like a well-watered garden,
    like a spring whose waters never fail.

Father, thank you for sustaining me as I bless others.

Matthew 7:7-11

“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.

“Which of you, if your son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake?  If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!

Father, I pray that my asking, seeking and knocking will be in accordance with Your good will.

Psalm 34:10

The lions may grow weak and hungry,
    but those who seek the Lord lack no good thing.

Father, I pray I will seek You knowing I lack no good thing from You.

He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?

Father, I believe that surely if You sacrificed Your only Son for us, You will give us all we need.

Father, I trust You for everything I need.

Father, I look expectantly to heaven knowing that there, sadness, death, and pain will cease forever.

Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.

Father, as I mourn, thank You for the promise of Your comfort.

John 16:20

Very truly I tell you, you will weep and mourn while the world rejoices. You will grieve, but your grief will turn to joy.

Father, thank you for the promise that my grief will turn to joy. 

Psalm 126:4-6

Restore our fortunes, Lord,

like streams in the Negev.

Those who sow with tears

will reap with songs of joy.

Those who go out weeping,

carrying seed to sow,

will return with songs of joy,

carrying sheaves with them.

Father, I pray that after enduring the sad times I will come out with songs of joy.

Jeremiah 31:13

Then young women will dance and be glad,

young men and old as well.

I will turn their mourning into gladness;

I will give them comfort and joy instead of sorrow.

Father, I thank You for giving me comfort, joy, and gladness in my time of grief.

Zechariah 9:11-12

As for you, because of the blood of my covenant with you,

I will free your prisoners from the waterless pit.

Return to your fortress, you prisoners of hope;

even now I announce that I will restore twice as much to you.

Father, may I find hope in Christ’s victorious return in the midst of my despair.
